LYRICS

EVERY DAY I AM

David Luning

I’m always looking

Over my shoulder

Every day I am

I can’t let them catch me

I’m a wanted man

Every day I am

I stole that gold

Just trying to survive

Every day I am

And they say if they catch me

I’ll be fearing for my life

Every day I am

Every day I feel the heat under my feet

Sirens they haunt me at night

Every day I’m just trying to keep

On living like a free man

Every day I am

I got no one to trust

So I’m always on my own

Every day I am

Been running through the dust

Far away from home

Every day I am

Every day I feel the heat under my feet

Sirens they haunt me at night

Every day I’m just trying to keep

On living like a free man

Every day I am

DOWN BELOW

David Luning

I’m on my way

Down below

No one can save me

This I know

It’s far too late

I’m on my way

Down below

The sun don’t shine

On this life of stone

Cocaine and wine

The weight of my bones

It’s far too late

I’m on my way

Down below

Down below

Down below

It’s far too late

I’m on my way

Down below

Where I am going

I go alone

All that I’ve done

And what I’ve become

It’s far too late

I’m on my way

Down below

Down below

Down below

Down below

It’s far too late

I’m on my way

Down below

THE WAY IT GOES

David Luning

Friday night you dressed it up and filled your cup

For courage now you’re flying

Shot the moon and rolled the dice

And lost again and now inside you’re dying

Thought you couldn’t lose right now you said

Feeling like a fool inside your head

You stepped into a perfect storm

And sometimes that’s just the way it goes

Sometimes it’s just the way it goes

Sometimes it’s just the way it goes

Waking up with bloodshot eyes

You lost the fight, just staring at the ceiling

Down again, you get back up and shake your head

Just trying to chase that feeling

Ain’t no shame in losing it all you said

The dream is worth the pain inside your head

When trouble doesn’t rain, it pours

And sometimes that’s just the way it goes

Sometimes it’s just the way it goes

Sometimes it’s just the way it goes

You don’t mind the pain

With the fate you’re given

And you don’t care what they say

About the way you’re living

You always seem to laugh in the wake of it all

Saying, sometimes that’s just the way it goes

(When you roll them bones)

Sometimes it’s just the way it goes

(When you lose control)

Sometimes it’s just the way it goes

AIN’T EASY TO LOVE ME

David Luning

I know life with me is hard sometimes

And I know I can be a fool sometimes

My scattered brain drifts away sometimes

You seem to love me just the same

Someone like me was never in your plans

And why you stay, I might never understand

Cause it ain’t easy to love

It ain’t easy to love me but you do

I know I get get lost sometimes

And I know I can get so low sometimes

Darlin’ your love is so beautiful and kind

I don’t know how I ever found you

Wish I could be there holding you at home

Standing and embracing, even though I know

It aint’ easy to love me

It ain’t easy to love me but you do

Someone like me was never in your plans

And why you stay, I might never understand

Cause it ain’t easy to love me

It ain’t easy to love me but you do

It ain’t easy to love me

It ain’t easy to love me but you do

GOODNIGHT

David Luning

All of the street lamps

Light an empty road

The air is so still now

It whispers somehow

It’s time to go home

All the songs have ended

From the birds in the trees

The night just like a wave

Washes over town

As it goes to sleep

It’s time to say goodnight

It’s time to say goodnight

It’s time to say goodnight

And farewell

Nothing more is spoken

And quiet fills the space

The the changing of the guard

With the moon and all the stars

As they take their place

It’s time to say goodnight

It’s time to say goodnight

It’s time to say goodnight

And farewell

THE MOON LOOKS COOL TONIGHT

David Luning

There’s a party down on second street

The music is loud and the people are crazy

It’s such a mess, yeah it’s quite a scene

I step outside to smoke a cigarette

You come out to join me

And the moon looks cool tonight

The air is warm and everything feels right

Out here, it’s peaceful and quiet

And the moon looks cool tonight

There’s a party down on second street

But we’re not there, we’re getting something to eat

You smile at me with food on your cheek

I don’t know how you do it babe

But you got a hold on me

And the moon looks cool tonight

The air is warm and everything just feels right

And with you, it’s peaceful and quiet

And the moon looks cool tonight

If the people in the house, they only knew

They would come outside and look at the moon

But tonight it’s just me and you

Yeah tonight it’s just me and you

There’s a party down on second street

But we’re not there we’re down by the beach

I kiss you and you kiss me

Standing close to the waters’ edge

Two silhouettes against the sea

And the moon looks cool tonight

Your hand in mine and everything just feels right

And with you, it’s peaceful and quiet

And the moon looks cool tonight

YOU LIKE THE RAIN

David Luning

Before I met you

I hated the rain

Clouds would be coming

And all I could think

Was there goes the day

There goes the sunlight

Here comes the grey

But you came along, my love

And everything changed

Cause you like the rain

You love the sound

And the music it makes

On the roof of our house

And the smile on your face

When it’s coming down

I used to hate the rain

I like it now

Through our window

There’s a mist in the trees

We watch

As all the diamonds fall

Fall to the street

We sit close

Inside where it’s warm

The weatherman said

There’s a chance

So bring on the storm

Cause you like the rain

You love the sound

And the music it makes

On the roof of our house

And the smile on your face

When it’s coming down

I used to hate the rain

I like it now

LESSONS

David Luning

I’ve been a gambler, I’ve been a cheat

I’ve been the fool who never admits defeat

I’ve been so deep in the depths of shame

And every day there’d be a brand new game

Off in the distance running away from me

I see the man that I’m supposed to be

Thank god I’ve learned a little from these things

Otherwise I know they’d be the death of me

Life lessons, you gotta learn them for yourself

Life lessons, only you and no one else

You might’ve heard them all before

And you think you know them well

But they just don’t mean a thing

If you dont learn them for yourself

I’ve been a drunkard, I’ve been a theif

I’ve been a liar and man, I’ve been mean

I’ve been completely  torn apart by love

And I’ve been tested on the stuff that I’m made of

Way out there, there’s a perfect little me

Sometimes it seems so out of reach

Thank god I’ve learned a little from these things

Otherwise I know they’d be the death of me

(Chorus)

I’ve hit rock bottom, I’ve gone astray

I’ve tried to find somebody else to blame

I’ve been naive and I’ve been lost

Found out the hard way how much it costs

I’ve had to take some long looks in the mirror

Doesn’t always pay to be so cavelier you know

Thank god I’ve learned a little from these things

Otherwise I know they’d be the death of me

THE WORLD GOES AROUND AGAIN

David Luning

If I were a bird

I could fly when things got heavy

High above the rivers and the valleys to the sea

High above the sailors at war with the ocean

High above the wisest souls trying to find what truth is

But I’m just a man and my faults are my own

Down here on the ground and the days are getting colder

I try to read the lines in my hands for answers

But the only thing they tell me is that I’m getting older

And the world goes around again

It’ll never stop for me

I wish that it would wait, take a break

Give me a chance to breathe

Cause every time I think that I’m

Closing in to find, what’s around the bend

The world goes around again

Oh its so easy to get lost in this city

Everyone running around and damn everyone looks good

And I’m sitting here like a junkie with dust in my hair

But I'll try to find the way cause a book told me I should

But I’m just a man and the faults are my own

Down here on the ground and the days are getting colder

And I look to all the stars in the sky for answers

But the only thing they give me

Is weight upon on my shoulders

(Chorus)

No matter how fast I run, to go and try to catch the sun

It’s another hill to climb, another valley to get lost in

When I think I see a spark, I see a spark at the edge

It’s just my imagination kicking in

(Chorus)

And the world goes around again

It’ll never stop you know

No matter how you wish it would, it's go go go

And every time I think that I’m

Closing in to find, what’s around the bend

The world goes around again

OUT OF MY HEAD

By David Luning

If I could only get out of my head

I could see the world for all its promises

If I could only get out of my head

I could dance with you down the whole boulevard

If I could just forget what keeps me down

But oh, my forehead keeps the bruises on like war paint

And oh, there’s a cloud of cacophony in this place,

With no escape it seems

If I could only get out of my head somehow

If I could only get out of my head somehow

Somehow

If I could only get out of my head

I could find the words I’ve always wanted to

I could take a breath, let it all go

I could find peace and finally get some sleep

If I could just forget what keeps me down

But oh, my forehead keeps the bruises on like war paint

And oh, there’s a cloud of cacophony in this place,

With no escape it seems

If I could only get out of my head somehow

If I could only get out of my head somehow

I could finally leave this cage full of dreams

Finally released and free

If I could only get out of my head somehow

Somehow
